You’ve placed your order. What happens next depends on where you bought.

Exchange purchases (StockX, GOAT)

The simplest path. The platform authenticates every item before it ships to you.
1

Place a bid or buy at the ask

Complete the purchase on the marketplace.
2

Platform authenticates

The seller ships to the platform. They verify condition, size, and authenticity.
3

Ships to you

Once authenticated, the item ships directly to your address.
No extra authentication needed. If the item fails verification, the transaction is cancelled.

eBay purchases

eBay has two levels of protection. For sneakers over $100, Authenticity Guarantee routes items through a third-party authenticator — similar to StockX/GOAT. Below that, you’re covered by Money Back Guarantee (return if not as described).

P2P purchases (Depop, Mercari, Reddit, Facebook, Grailed)

No middleman. You’re buying directly from the seller.
1

Buy the item

Complete the purchase on the platform.
2

Receive and inspect

Check the item against the listing photos. Verify SKU, size label, and condition.
3

Authenticate if needed

For high-value items, submit photos to LegitApp before selling. See Authentication.
For international purchases or when you want inspection before committing, use a forwarding service.

After receiving

Once you have the item, sell on the platform with the best bid. Log both trades in Portfolio to track your P&L.
